Bone Damage during Dental Implant Insertion: A Pilot Study Combining Strain Gauge and Histologic Analysis

چکیده
Besides alveolar bone quality, the drilling protocol applied in conjunction with design of an implant are major determinants primary stability. Surgical trauma and compression resulting from insertion may constitute one cause for marginal resorption. Inserting two current bone-level designs (Astra; Straumann; n = 5) bovine ribs, stability, strain development on buccal plate histologic signs damage were recorded. comparing (Welch t-tests), all measurement parameters checked potential correlations (Pearson product moment correlation coefficients) level significance set at α 0.05. Considerable numbers crack formation plastic deformation observed after insertion. Straumann implants showed slightly greater values torque (p 0.772), 0.893) stability 0.642). Significantly to contact (cortical p 0.014; trabecular 0.016) was implants, while Astra caused a significantly number microcracks cortical 0.020). In correlated area 0.029) macrocracks 0.029). 0.007) as well 0.016). Additionally, bone, 0.019). Implant placement results varying magnitude, which is governed by drill protocol, macrodesign quality.

Modeling dental implant insertion.
The success of dental implantation is connected with the so-called implant primary stability, a synonym for the implant anchoring inside the bone. The primary stability is related to the applied peak torque to the implant during the insertion process. This work simulates the process of insertion of a typical commercial implant into the jaw bone (mandible) using a 3D dynamic non-linear finite-el...
متن کاملAssessment of bone vascularity in the posterior maxilla during dental implant insertion by laser Doppler flowmetry
Bone quality is an important factor that may determine implant success. In addition to the other parameters that define bone quality, vascularity plays a vital role in the process of osseointegration of dental implants. Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) is an appropriate method for assessment of tissue vascularity at the level of microcirculation. It is non-invasive, painless and well accepted by t...
متن کاملCombined effects of implant insertion depth and alveolar bone quality on periimplant bone strain induced by a wide-diameter, short implant and a narrow-diameter, long implant.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Strain levels in periimplant bone are affected by implant dimensions, bone quality, and implant insertion depth, resulting in different bone maintenance characteristics. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical response of the jaw bone to a wide-diameter, short (WDS) implant, and a narrow-diameter, long (NDL) implant for various simulated clinic...
متن کاملDental implant placement by predoctoral dental students: a pilot program.
Dental implant education is increasingly becoming part of predoctoral dental curricula. New York University College of Dentistry has developed a pilot dental implant program that trains students in implant restorations for single-tooth restorations and mandibular overdentures. Fourth-year students have the option of applying for an implant honors program, which can include surgically placing po...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to confirm the validity of laser treated implant surfaces, with regard to high superficial purity preservation and to extremely regular and uniform roughness surfaces. METHODS In this in vivo study, seven different laser treated implant surfaces were analyzed. A diode-pumped solid state source laser, in a Q-Switch output mode, was used at various waveleng...
